Our Story

We are Kevin and Leslie Lowe! We have four boys, ages 9, 6, 3, and almost 1 year, the oldest of whom was born and spent his first two years in The Netherlands. After a whirlwind decision to study abroad in 2014, we gradually fell in love with the city of Amsterdam, the thriving expat and refugee communities, and the culture of the Dutch people. The years of 2014-2017 included studying for a Masters in Theology, becoming pregnant and giving birth to our first son, miscarrying our second child, traveling and forming friendships within the local community, and being involved in multicultural, multilingual, and multi-denominational church settings. These things together formed a deeply entrenched desire to live and work among the people of The Netherlands, specifically in partnership with Tyndale Theological Seminary.

February 14 was the first day of Lent this year. With the birth of our fourth son, we knew we had some big life decisions ahead (specifically with outgrowing our home of the last five years). We decided to use the fasting and prayer of the Lenten season to guide us in asking God for clarity: do we pursue a move back to The Netherlands, or do we root firmly in the community we have grown to so deeply care about here in Greenville. Within a week of beginning this, we learned about needs at Tyndale that fit our skillset, and we reached out to see if we’d be a good fit for their ministry. Shortly after reaching out, we were invited to come be a part of their team. After 7 years of ‘not yet’ answers from God, he had made it clear: the time is now. He has told us over and over, “I am sending you, trust me,” so we are. He’s teaching us every day, every moment, to trust him and his timing.

Tyndale Theological Seminary is a place where many nations and languages come together to form a gorgeous picture of The Church as it looks worldwide- it’s not a perfect place, but even in its imperfections Tyndale’s impact is felt around the world. In order to join this community, we are asking for others to partner with us. We are needing to raise annual support as well as funds to help with the move.
