Why Amsterdam?

“Amsterdam is the capital and the principal commercial and financial center of the Netherlands. As such, there are currently more than 3500 international companies in the Amsterdam Area, plus almost 2,000 startups and scale-ups. Convenient connections by land, water and air make the region a prime location in Europe for businesses to sustainably extend their reach. With this, Amsterdam is one of the world’s largest international hubs. With a network of high-speed trains to European cities as well as the 327 destinations served by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which is itself just a 15-minute train ride from the city centre” (read more here)

Amsterdam is a gateway to Europe, and something of a connecting point from Europe to much of the world. This city’s accessibility makes Tyndale strategically placed to connect to most nations. While in the Netherlands the native language is Dutch, Amsterdam is a predominantly English speaking city. Tyndale is run as an English speaking facility, although the staff is from a variety of nations around the world. Additionally, the school is unique in that the staff are from diverse denominations within evangelical Christianity. Amsterdam is strategic in location, language, and cultural diversity. Why Us?

In short: we fell in love, and also saw how we could help with needs both at Tyndale and in the Netherlands.

The longer version: due to becoming pregnant and giving birth to our oldest son while we lived there from 2014-2017, we integrated into culture in a way unlike many of the other students there. We started our time excited about a study abroad experience and learning from teachers without our cultural biases, and we ended our time with a core ‘knowing’ that we belonged in that place for our lifetime. We are deeply passionate about the mission of Tyndale and excited to see what it could become, we feel a great love for the dutch people and way of life and feel that it aligns with many of our personal and family values, and we feel like God has made our calling clear: return to The Netherlands, serve Tyndale, do it now.

What do we need to make this happen?

We need recurring, monthly financial support, we need a group of people interested in praying for us and the school regularly, and we need friends and family who can support us emotionally with encouragement! If any of these feel like something you are able to do, please fill out the form below and we will add you to our regular communication list!

How can I help?

Pray: A big way God acts in the world to bring about his mission is through the prayers of his people. Prayer is action, so even if you cannot give, please pray for us and for Tyndale (sign up above to receive regular updates and/or follow us on Instagram).

Donate: We cannot do this on our own. We need a community of people who are willing to provide financial support so we can serve Tyndale and our neighbors in the Netherlands.
